Logic Pro free trial: how to get 30 days, and what to do before it ends

A 30-day calendar strip with a Logic Pro project file at the start and a decision point marked at day 30.

Quick answer

The only Logic Pro trial Apple now offers is the 30-day free period for new Apple Creator Studio subscribers, which gives you Logic Pro for Mac and iPad plus Final Cut Pro, MainStage, Pixelmator Pro, Motion and Compressor. The standalone 90-day Logic Pro trial was discontinued in early 2026. After 30 days the plan renews at US$12.99 a month or US$129 a year (US$2.99 a month or US$29.99 a year for students and educators) unless you cancel.

Start the trial and set yourself up to decide by day 30

  1. Check you qualify. Apple's trial page states the free period is for new subscribers only. If you have subscribed to Creator Studio before on the same Apple Account, the trial will not be offered.
  2. Confirm your device. Logic Pro needs macOS 15.6 or later on Apple silicon, or iPadOS 26 or later on an iPad with an A12 Bionic or later. See the requirements guide.
  3. Open the App Store and find Creator Studio. On Mac open App Store, search for Logic Pro, and click the Creator Studio subscribe or try-free button on the listing. Apple's trial page uses a Try it free button that sends you to the same place.
  4. Confirm with your Apple Account. Approve with Touch ID or your password. The App Store shows the renewal price before you confirm; read it so you know what day 31 will cost.
  5. Download Logic Pro and, if you want, the other apps. Once subscribed, each Creator Studio app shows a download button in the App Store. On iPad, open the App Store and download Logic Pro for iPad under the same Apple Account.
  6. Note the renewal date. Open App Store > your name > Account Settings > Manage Subscriptions (or Settings > Apple Account > Subscriptions on iPad) and write down the date shown. Set a reminder for about five days earlier.
  7. Save projects somewhere permanent. Logic Pro projects are ordinary files or packages you own. Keep them in Documents or on an external drive, not only inside a trial folder you might forget.
  8. Bounce anything you need as audio. Before the trial ends, export finished mixes and stems with File > Bounce > Project or Section so you have playable files whatever you decide. See how to bounce.
  9. Decide: keep, switch or cancel. Continue the subscription, cancel and buy Logic Pro for Mac outright for US$199.99, or cancel and walk away. The next section compares those paths.

How to cancel

On Mac: App Store > your name (bottom left) > Account Settings > Manage Subscriptions > Apple Creator Studio > Cancel Subscription. On iPad or iPhone: Settings > Apple Account > Subscriptions > Apple Creator Studio > Cancel Subscription. Cancelling keeps the trial active until the end date; Apple's trial page notes the plan renews until cancelled, so cancelling early does not shorten your 30 days.

Keeping your projects

A Logic Pro project is a file you own, and cancelling does not delete it. If your access lapses you will not be able to open the project in Logic Pro until you subscribe again or buy the app, which is why bouncing stems first matters. Projects you created during the trial open normally in a purchased copy of Logic Pro for Mac because the software is the same build.

Student and educator pricing

Apple lists Creator Studio for education at US$2.99 a month or US$29.99 a year on its trial page. Eligibility is verified by Apple at sign-up; the 30-day free period applies to new subscribers on either tier.

What happened to the 90-day trial

Apple used to offer a standalone 90-day Logic Pro trial download. According to 9to5Mac's reporting from January and February 2026, that offer ended early in 2026 as Apple moved Logic Pro into Creator Studio. If you find older guides promising 90 days, they are out of date.

FAQ

Is there still a 90-day Logic Pro trial?

No. 9to5Mac reported in early 2026 that Apple discontinued the standalone 90-day trial. The current offer is 30 days free with a new Apple Creator Studio subscription.

Do I have to enter payment details for the trial?

Apple's trial page states the plan renews automatically until cancelled, which means a payment method must be on your Apple Account. The page does not describe any card-free option.

Can I get the trial twice?

Apple's footnote limits the free period to new subscribers, so a second trial on the same Apple Account is not offered.

If I cancel, do I lose my projects?

No. Project files stay on your drive; you need an active subscription or a purchased copy to open them in Logic Pro again.

Does the trial include Logic Pro for iPad?

Yes. Creator Studio covers Logic Pro on Mac and iPad, so the trial does too.

Is the trial version limited in any way?

No. Apple states Logic Pro's features are identical whether you subscribe or buy, and the trial is the full subscription.

How much is the student price?

US$2.99 a month or US$29.99 a year for verified students and educators, according to Apple's trial page.

Can I buy Logic Pro outright after trying it?

Yes. Cancel Creator Studio and buy Logic Pro for Mac in the Mac App Store for US$199.99; your trial projects open normally.
